After the final game of the postseason for the Lakers last season, star LeBron James made headlines all across the sports world with talk of his potential retirement. James’ was caught up in the heat of defeat, but it’s clear that the thought has been weighing on his mind.
James isn’t getting any younger, and he understands this. But he wants to squeeze every ounce of the game of basketball out before he hands it up.
However, Father Time is undefeated, and while James’ has extended his contract with him, eventually it will run out. Recently, James laid out some plans of his that could hint at when he plans to officially retire from basketball.
The King is in year 21 of his NBA career and is still going strong. He remains one of the better players in the game today and is doing things that nobody ever thought would be possible.
He has helped keep the Lakers afloat this season while they have gone through some tough injury challenges. James’ has carried the Lakers, and been relied upon heavily, almost problematically, all season long.
At some point, he has to slow down, right? Well, even if he doesn’t he has some lofty goals for the rest of his basketball career.
But the number one goal is still adding more championships to his overall total. He is still driven to find success, and that is what will ultimately define him long after he is done playing.
