Gigi Hadid reveals that her siblings, like their mother, have Lyme disease in order to support them.

Since 2012, Yolanda Foster , mother of Gigi Hadid , has maintained a brave and public fight against Lyme disease. The reality TV star has seen a gradual decline in her health, suffering one of the most aggressive cases of the condition. Now, during the Global Lyme Alliance Gala in New York, she announced that she is not the only one in her family who has had to face the disease, surprising everyone she said that in 2012 her children, Bella and Anwar, were also diagnosed.

Nobody suspected that Bella, who is also a model like Gigi, suffered from the same illness as her mother. And it wasn’t until Yolanda took the ceremony podium to thank her for a special recognition that was given to her during the night, that the world learned of the struggle the family has had over the last three years. “When my two young children, Bella and Anwar, were diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in early 2012, watching my boys suffer in silence to support my journey hit the deepest point within me with hopelessness,” he said. to those present, among whom was the Mexican Thalía , who also had this illness.

In the audience, Gigi, Bella and Anwar listened attentively and moved to what their mother shared. Bravely, the blonde model who conquered all the catwalks at fashion week, also went on stage to talk about what she was experiencing at home with three people with the same illness.

With a lump in her throat, Gigi explained to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet: “It’s been very difficult for me, because I don’t understand it. What has been most difficult for me has been trying to be her strength and hope even when it is an illness that I do not fully understand, because I have not gone through it.” Being an event of special importance to the Hadid family, it was no surprise that Gigi made her debut on the capet network with Joe Jonas . The young singer was supporting his girlfriend at all times, while she accompanied his mother at the ceremony.

Lyme disease is a disease that is contracted through a tick bite and attacks the vascular system. If it is not detected in time, it can attack the central nervous system, as happened to Yolanda, affecting even the simplest functions of the body permanently. Other celebrities like Thalía and Avril Lavigne have suffered from this disease, for which a definitive cure is still being sought.
