Young & Restless’ Chance may not even realize it, but he’s caught in the middle of, if not a love triangle, a lust triangle, for certain. But new information leads us to believe that there’s every possibility he won’t end up with either of the two women involved when the dust settles!

Chance and Sharon finally acted on their attraction during a steamy hook-up in her office at Crimson Lights after a months-long flirtation and have been seeing each other consistently ever since. That said, their official status has been murky and their presence as a couple onscreen sporadic at best.

Summer, meanwhile, turned to Chance for help when her mother landed in a serious tangle with the law, and found her feelings for the guy taking a turn for the romantic after she split from her husband Kyle. Despite her declared refusal to rock the “Shance” boat, she’s been wearing her heart on her sleeve, if you will. Her interest in the cop-turned-corporate executive has been lost on no one, including Sharon.

Chance, for his part, has been totally clueless, which is interesting when you consider he was once a detective. He even invited Summer to accompany him to a concert when Sharon was too busy to go. Oy.

Things are now set to come to a head, what with Summer questioning Sharon as to whether or not she’s in love with the man after she overheard her and Phyllis discussing her growing feelings for him. Sharon, despite being irked, eventually replied, explaining that she and Chance were casual and that’s all she was looking for at the moment.

Will Summer take this as an opening? Will Sharon end things with Chance, thus throwing the door open for her rival? Turns out, it may not matter.

In an interview conducted by Soaphub and shared on Twitter/X, Melissa Ordway, who plays Chance’s onscreen ex-wife, dropped a bit of a bomb when she revealed that her character Abby and her ex, Chance, will soon be “forced” to spend more time together soon.

Given that Abby is in a blissful domestic situation with Devon, it’s unlikely that she would be drawn back to her ex-husband, but this is a soap, which means there is a distinct possibilty that time spent together with a person you may have unresolved feelings for may lead to something happening.

If you’ll recall, there was a scene not so long ago in which Abby grew concerned about Heather’s obvious interest in Daniel, given that his girlfriend, Lily, was out of town. What does this have to do with Chance? Well, the Young & Restless fan who shared the clip has a theory — Abby will spend time with her ex-husband so that she can play cupid for him and Heather in an effort to protect Lily’s interests.

Why would Chance be interested in Heather? If you’re a longtime viewer, you already know. If you’re not, we can tell you that the two have a history. Heather and Chance worked together and scandalously hooked up when he was with Chloe. They eventually became a couple, but never married. In fact, Heather fell for his brother Ronan at one point. What a tangled web!

Anywho, it’s unlikely Summer will let Chance slip through her fingers if his fling with Sharon ends, but in light of this Abby teaser, we have to wonder if the writers will take things in an entirely different direction. Let us know what you think in the comments.
