Tyreek Hill says Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes don’t text him anymore — He blames Taylor Swift

The Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs are set to face off in what is expected to be one of the coldest NFL playoff games in history on Saturday. Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been getting a cold treatment from some of his former Chiefs teammates ahead of the game.

Hill told reporters on Thursday that he hasn’t had any text interactions with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes or tight end Travis Kelce in months. Hill referenced Kelce’s ongoing relationship with Taylor Swift as a possible reason.

“I haven’t text Mahomes since they beat our ass,” Hill said, referring to the Chiefs 21-14 victory over Miami in Germany on Nov. 5. “I text Kelce, he still hasn’t texted me back, he’s probably still on his Taylor Swift thing. I guess those guys are too famous for me now.”

This is not the first time Hill has called out Mahomes and Kelce for feeling left out.

Hill previously said that Mahomes never invited him over to his house, while showing favoritism to Kelce both on and off the field, during an appearance on “RG3 and The Ones” in November. Hill says he felt like a “side chick” at that time.

“Patrick, you ain’t ever invite me to your house like you did Kelce. You always invited Kelce, that’s why we here where we at now,” Hill said. “I ain’t ever been anyone’s side chick in my life … I got to KC, now I’m the side chick!”

From 2018 to 2021, (the four seasons in which Mahomes, Kelce and Hill all started for the Chiefs) Kelce had more total targets with an average of 141.3 per season to Hill’s 130, despite the fact that Hill averaged more yards per reception with 14.2 compared to Kelce’s 12.9.

Hill has previously cited other reasons for his decision to request a trade from the Chiefs, including saying it was due to his agent convincing him to take the most possible money while paying less income tax during an appearance on “I Am Athlete.” However, Hill has also said he is “happy” the Chiefs traded him.

Meanwhile, Mahomes says he expects Chiefs fans to have a mixed reception to Hill once he returns to Arrowhead stadium for their Wild Card playoff game on Saturday. It will be Hill’s first game in Kansas City since his 2022 departure.

“I’m sure it will be a mixture of cheers and boos,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said on The Drive when asked what he expects the fanbase’s response to be. “Tyreek did a lot for this organization, man, he really did. I know he’s in Miami now, so he might get a couple boos because we’re playing them in the playoffs and everything.”

According to the National Weather Service, the low in Kansas City is set at 2 degrees on Saturday, with a minus-30 degree windchill. Kickoff between the Chiefs and Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium is set for 8 p.m. ET.

It’s a contest that could see temperatures dip to the lowest ever recorded in an NFL game. The current record is -13 degrees, set at Lambeau Field in the famous 1967 NFL Championship between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys — in a game known as the “Ice Bowl”.
