Henry Cavill debunked one of the biggest debates around Superman, proving that Clark Kent’s glasses are a good disguise for him.
Henry Cavill is one of the most recognized faces in the world. Having played characters in all different genres and made a name for himself as a truly skilled actor, he has become one of the most well-known people in Hollywood. While his time as Geralt of Riva, Sherlock Holmes, and Charles Brandon would have certainly helped him achieve this fame, the one role that was the most responsible for it has to be his time as Superman.

One would expect that ever since he played the role of Clark Kent in Man of Steel, he would have been unable to go out into public without getting recognized. However, an interview by that actor revealed otherwise, when he did an experiment to test one of the biggest questions about Superman’s identity, only he got humbled very quickly.
Henry Cavill Wanted To Test A Theory
One of the biggest annoyances that fans have with the character of Superman is how he chooses to hide his identity from the world. The alien, who saves the world on a day-to-day basis, hides his true face as Clark Kent from the world so that he can protect those he cares about, and can lead somewhat of a normal life. It is not this that irritates and confuses fans, but the fact that he uses one pair of black glasses to do so. During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Henry Cavill was asked about exactly this, and it would seem that he has wondered this too.

“A friend of mine and I were discussing the idea of these glasses not being good enough disguse. And we decided to go to Time Square to test the theory. I wore a Superman t-shirt and no glasses, and stood underneath the gaint wrap-arround Batman Vs Superman posters in Time Square.”
The actor confessed that he once tested the practicality of using a pair of glasses to hide who he was. The test took place in the middle of Times Square in New York and Cavill was wearing a Superman t-shirt. To add to the entertainment, he decided to stand right in front of the poster for his film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With this, Cavill was ready to see how many people would be able to recognize him as Superman.
Henry Cavill Was Humbled Very Quickly
While many would expect the number of people to have recognized Henry Cavill to be very high, the reality was far from it. The actor mentioned that he was approached by two people during the testing of this theory. The first person was someone that he ran into in the Subway system of the city. This person simply asked the actor for directions and then moved on.

“Got stopped twice. Once by someone in the Subday asking for directions to Central Station. The other time was in a coffee shop, where someone sadi, ‘Could you please stop taking photos’. That’s it.”
The next person was encountered by the actor in a coffee shop. Cavill’s luck did not get any better here, as he was simply asked to stop clicking so many pictures in their establishment. This experiment ended up proving one of the biggest topics of discussion around this character by Superman himself.
