Exceptional Nigerian lady graduates as a Petroleum Engineer with 5.00/5.00CGPA, wins overall best student award

An exceptional Nigerian lady named Precious Okon has emerged as the best graduating student of Nile University, Abuja Nigeria after earning an outstanding 5.00/5.00 grade from the institution.

Precious earned a 100% first-class Bachelor’s degree grade studying Petroleum and Gas Engineering. She scored the highest grade point in her graduating set earning her the overall best graduating student of the university.

She took to LinkedIn to celebrate her achievement of graduating with an excellent grade stating that she graduated from the university’s Faculty of Engineering with a first-class degree.

Beyond her academic achivements, Precious said she took up a lot of volunteering roles from her first year to her final year. Some of the voluntary roles include: being an Energy4Me Ambassador with the Society of Petroleum Engineers International.

She also served as the President of the SPE Nile University Chapter and the Nile Christian Fellowship in her penultimate and final years. Precious added that she volunteered actively in different capacities with the SPE Abuja Section 199.

Precious mentioned that while serving as the President of the SPE Nile Chapter, she was able to achieve so much with her team; from planting 100 trees to commemorate Earth Day to starting the Mental Health Awareness Series and Skills Development Series.

Together with eventually winning the Student Chapter Excellence Award in 2022, the second-highest award given to any student chapter in the world. She stated that she also received the Girl in STEM Leadership Award in 2021 from the Women’s Leadership Programme under the SPE NIGERIA COUNCIL.

Precious said she is grateful for the opportunity to have been able to serve in those roles and impact so many lives because she believes that with excellence comes a responsibility to impart lives which is what she is committed to.

She expressed her gratitude to lecturers in the university’s Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering as a whole. She also thanked the non-academic staff who served as support systems and also spurred her on to do more.

Precious stated that being at Nile University influenced her life as she got to meet so many people from different backgrounds, made great friends, engaged in a lot of activities, and learned so much. She said she looks forward to using these skills to do more on a global scale.
