Kylian Mbappe, who told PSG he would leave the club at the end of this season, is expected to become a Real Madrid player on July 1, 2024. Real has been interested in the 25-year-old for a long time and is ready to make him the highest-paid star in the club’s history, although that amount is lower than what he earns at PSG. It is known that Les Parisiens is paying number 7 a salary of 171 million pounds per year.
Real is still negotiating the final details of Mbappe’s contract as there are still some unresolved issues. Regardless, a series of information is emerging indicating that Mbappe will eventually land at the Bernabeu. President Florentino Perez was once revealed to have expressed to some Real players about welcoming Mbappe.
Mbappe is very close to joining Real.
Aurelien Tchouameni immediately reacted on social networks after the news that his teammate on the French team announced his farewell to PSG. Spanish media also reported that the former AS Monaco player will inherit the number 10 shirt of Luka Modric, who is almost leaving Real after this season. All of that and the words shared by Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol indicate that Los Blancos are about to complete their dream deal. Specifically, Solhekol commented:
“This will be the most expensive free transfer in history. Basically, the money that Real Madrid would have paid as a transfer fee, they will put in Mbappe’s pocket. He will receive a huge joining fee, with reports in Spain suggesting the figure is likely to be more than Β£100m.”
Why did Mbappe leave PSG?
PSG rejected Real Madrid’s offer worth 188 million pounds (220 million euros) for Mbappe in August 2021. The French striker then chose to sign a new 3-year contract with the Ligue 1 club. Mbappe looked set to join Real in May 2022 until he made a dramatic change and signed a further two-year contract with PSG, which prompted La Liga to file a complaint with UEFA that the club France has violated Financial Fair Play rules.
But his relationship with the parent team has worsened after the announcement that he will not activate a contract extension until the summer of 2025. This means that Mbappe will become a free agent in the summer of 2024.
Mbappe was then eliminated and not included in the team’s pre-season tour when he rejected Al Hilalt, even though the Arab giant set a world record transfer fee of up to 259 million pounds. However, before the start of the new season, PSG put the main player back in the squad.
He announced his departure on a free transfer.
There is no club that competes with Real
Despite the news that many European teams such as Arsenal or Manchester City are lining up to win Mbappe’s signature, Solhekol affirmed that Real is still single-minded in recruiting the 2018 World Cup champion. Specifically, he revealed route:
“Real Madrid have been trying to sign Mbappe for about seven years. They will get him this summer. Mbappe’s agent has been talking to Real for the last three or four weeks to try to reach an agreement.” It’s complicated because of the numbers involved.”
“He will become the highest paid player in Real history but will be forced to reduce his salary. The amount of money Mbappe earns at PSG is extraordinary. What Real will try to do is make Mbappe the highest paid in team, but the number must still match the salary structure at the Bernabeu.”
No club seriously competes with Real.
“They will compensate Mbappe by offering large loyalty bonuses and a joining fee. They are willing to do so because Mbappe arrived on a free transfer.”
“The number we are talking about is more than 100 million pounds. He received a huge amount of money, despite earning less at PSG. I don’t think Mbappe will have the opportunity to play for any other club except Real . No other team is actively trying to sign him. And there are no signs that Mbappe wants to go anywhere other than Real.”
