NBA Legend Dikembe Mutombo Puts Atlanta Mansion on the Market for $6.8M
In a surprising move, basketball icon Dikembe Mutombo has decided to sell his expansive Atlanta mansion. This decision comes just months after Mutombo commenced treatment for a brain tumor in Atlanta. The former centerβs diagnosis became public in October 2022, and his family requested prayers and well wishes during that challenging time. As of now, there have been no updates on his condition.
The remarkable mansion, featuring 11 bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms, is currently listed for $6.8 million. Boasting an impressive 13,000 square feet of living space, the residence sits on a sprawling 2-acre parcel.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by lofty ceilings and a grand entryway adorned with double staircases. The living room showcases an inviting fireplace, while the library boasts stunning built-in bookshelves. The kitchen, complete with professional-grade appliances and a double oven, centers around a generously sized island.
Multiple fireplaces are found throughout the sitting rooms and the primary bedroom. The primary bedroom suite also features a department-store-level walk-in closet and a luxurious shower for two. Conveniently, there are laundry rooms on both levels to accommodate the linens from the numerous bedrooms. Additional amenities include a salon, gym, home theater, sauna, game room, and an elevator.
Outside, the property offers parking space for four cars in the garage, along with a guesthouse. The outdoor amenities are equally impressive, featuring a pool, a kitchen area, a basketball court, and a playground.
Standing an imposing 7 feet tall, Mutombo enjoyed a remarkable 18-season career in the NBA, where he made a name for himself as an exceptional shot-blocker and four-time Defensive Player of the Year. He was also selected as an eight-time All-Star.
Following his retirement from the NBA in 2009, Mutombo gained recognition for his philanthropic endeavors. He established the eponymous Mutombo Foundation, dedicated to improving health and education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
