Billionaire power couple Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) have reportedly decided to keep the $88M two-acre Bel-Air estate in Bel-Air they bought in 2017 despite just throwing down $200M in cash for California’s most expensive home in Malibu.

The Houston-born 41-year-old and the Brooklyn-born 53-year-old still consider their Bel-Air residence ‘home’ as it’s closer to friends and their three children’s schools, and Malibu will serve as their ‘weekend home’ until they transition full-time – according to TMZ.

On June 13, Bey and Jay – who also own a $26M seven-bedroom mansion in East Hampton – will celebrate the sixth birthdays of their fraternal twins, son Sir Carter and daughter Rumi Carter.

The married couple of 15 years are also parents of 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who famously won a Grammy Award in 2021 for co-producing Knowles’ Brown Skin Girl music video.

Meanwhile, Knowles and Carter’s purchase of the 30K-square-foot concrete compound in Malibu marked the second most expensive real estate deal in the country – after a $238M apartment in Central Park South in Midtown Manhattan bought by hedge fund giant Ken Griffin in 2019.

The Break My Soul hitmaker and the Roc Nation rap mogul’s seaside estate is located on an eight-acre bluff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area nicknamed Billionaires’ Row.

Despite paying the exuberant price, the talented twosome actually got a deal on the home, which was first listed for a hefty $295M.

The expansive backyard boasts a pool and ends with a cliff that overlooks the beach.

The home, built with high concrete walls and offering plenty of space, was designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando, who is also working on disgraced rapper Kanye West’s Malibu home.

Ando is a Pritzker Prize winner known for his unique concrete structures in Asia, Europe, and North America.

The minimalist modern house was originally built and owned by William Bell, a famed art collector, who bought the property for $14.5M in 2003, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Bell spent almost 15 years building the concrete structure of the house.

The ocean-front home never even hit the market and was only shown to a select group of buyers according to the publication.

Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency reportedly handled the record-shattering deal.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z originally met back in 1998, and they’ve amassed a combined 56 Grammy Awards and $3B net worth between them.
