Tom Holland takes a hike with Robert Downey Jr. amid Spider-Man studio drama between Disney and Sony |

Just days after reports revealed his Spider-Man character will no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland took a hike with his on-screen mentor, Robert Downey Jr.

Holland, 23, took to Instagram on Thursday, sharing four photos of himself with Downey Jr., 54, enjoying a scenic environment.

They were also featured inside a home, where they were each messing around with each others’ action figures.

Holland was wearing a black snapback trucker’s cap backwards, along with a matching black t-shirt.

Downey Jr. was wearing a tan trucker’s hat with a ‘Cash Only’ emblem on the front, along with an olive-green short-sleeved t-shirt.

Downey completed his look with a pair of brown-tinted sunglasses, while showing off his guns (and a small tattoo) while flexing for the camera.

While Holland didn’t specifically address the drama swirling around Disney and Marvel Studios, he did say, ‘We did it Mr. Stark!’

Downey’s character, Tony Stark, was a mentor to Holland’s Peter Parker, starting in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

Holland returned in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It was reported that Disney/Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures could not come to an agreement regarding their Spider-Man character, resulting in Spider-Man not being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) anymore.

Marvel reportedly wanted a 50% stake in the Spider-Man franchise, which Sony wasn’t willing to relinquish, especially since they gave Marvel the merchandising rights.

Sony is still planning more Spider-Man sequels, though Marvel Studios and producer Kevin Feige will not be involved.

Aside from playing Spider-Man, Holland has a busy slate coming up, voicing Walter Beckett in the animated movie Spies in Disguise, arriving Christmas Day.

He also reunites, in a way, with Downey Jr. in the upcoming The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, with Downey Jr. playing the title character and Holland voicing Jip, in theaters January 17, 2020.

Holland also stars in The Devil All The Time, alongside Haley Bennett and another MCU star, Sebastian Stan, slated for release in 2020.
