Latest Liverpool transfer rumours as Reds lodge Joshua Kimmich ‘interest’ plus Kylian Mbappe, who is said to have chosen Real Madrid as his next club
Liverpool have been linked with Kylian Mbappe for a number of years but reports suggest he has opted for a lucrative deal at Real Madrid.
Liverpool-linked Kylian Mbappe has reportedly decided on a move to Real Madrid, while the Reds are said to be admirers of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
It has been a quiet January transfer window throughout the Premier League but it hasn’t stopped Liverpool from being linked with players around Europe.
Jurgen Klopp has sometimes veered into the winter market during periods of crisis but in that, there have been astute pieces of business. Such as Luis Diaz from FC Porto, the Reds moved quickly to bring the Colombian to Anfield amid suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur were eyeing a move for the winger.
Liverpool have been forced to weather injury issues in recent months after Kostas Tsimikas joined Andy Robertson on the treatment table after suffering a shoulder injury, thus mounting concerns at left-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah, albeit on international duty with Egypt, have all succumbed to injuries but the youngsters have stepped up to the plate and performed in their absences.
While January offers little to no movement from Anfield, there are reports of business in the summer. Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are among the players who could depart on a free transfer, when their respective deals expire.
In recent months, the transfer rumour mill has churned out a host of names mooted with a move to Merseyside. Here are the latest Liverpool transfer rumours.
Liverpool transfer rumours
Joshua Kimmich
SportBILD’s Christian Falk has reported that Liverpool are interested in Bayern Munich defensive midfielder, Joshua Kimmich.
The 28-year-old has one year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and has found his future come under scrutiny after reports that Thomas Tuchel eyes an out-and-out number six.
According to the German reporter, the Reds face transfer competition from Manchester City for the Germany international.
Kimmich was brought to Bavaria from RB Leipzig in 2015 and was handed his debut by Pep Guardiola. According to Transfermarkt, the midfielder is valued at €75million (£64m) but there are no suggestions of a price-tag in Falk’s initial report.
Marc Guehi
Liverpool admire Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as Jurgen Klopp has outlined central defensive additions as a priority.
That is according to David Anderson from the Mirror, who has claimed that the Reds have put a new defender at the ‘top of their shopping list’.
In their report, it has been said that Liverpool like 23-year-old Guehi but the deal has to wait until the summer as “there is no way” Palace would part ways as the threat of relegation looms.
Mohamed Salah
Also in the report from the Mirror, it has been claimed that another bid from Saudi Arabia for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will arrive in the summer – as he enters the final 18 months of his deal.
The Reds “would like” the Egyptian goal-getter to extend on new terms to avoid losing him on a free in the summer of 2025.
Salah has netted 204 times since making the move to Liverpool and despite turning 32 in June, he continues to express his importance to the Reds.
Leny Yoro
Liverpool will have to wait until the summer to test Lille’s resolve for 18-year-old starlet Leny Yoro.
“I am surprised and amused by all this agitation invented by some, which does not correspond to reality but to a telenovela (drama),” LOSC president Olivier Létang told L’Equipe.
“The situation is very clear, we are very calm and so is Leny, with whom I speak every week. Our position has not changed, no discussions in January, I refused to talk about a transfer with interested clubs because I want us to focus on the athlete and our objectives.”
The Reds have been mooted with a move for the Frenchman but it has been suggested that Paris Saint-Germain are favourites.
Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe has reportedly made the decision to join Real Madrid, upon the expiry of his PSG contract, according to BILD via Fichajes.
It has been claimed that Los Blancos have won the race to sign the France talisman as a free agent in the summer. The report suggests that the 25-year-old will earn a salary in the region of €70million (£60m) per year.
Liverpool have been long-standing admirers of the striker but Real have emerged as favourites to sign Mbappe after his future became uncertain the last two years.
