Chelsea are in direct contact with one club about the progress of two loanees this season

Reports have claimed that Chelsea are making sure they are in direct contact with one club about two of their loanees this season.

According to The Athletic, the Blues are keeping a running dialogue with Ligue 1 side Strasbourg regarding the progress of both Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos.

The season started off in a really promising way for Angelo, who was named in the team of the week a number of times in Ligue 1 during the opening weeks of the campaign.

He even at one stage picked up the player of the month award for Strasbourg, showing that it could not be long before he played a role for the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Things have taken a bit of a turn recently though, with it being reported that issues with the language are starting to hold him back.

Santos has joined him from Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season, after his original loan spell at Nottingham Forest turned out to be a nightmare.

He didn’t start in the Premier League, and featured for just a few minutes in all competitions.

Things don’t seem to have got much better following his deadline day move to Strasbourg, after it was reported that as many as five English clubs were keen to bring him in.

His lack of minutes over in France have left some supporters already concerned that it could be another half-season wasted for a player there is immense promise for.

They will perhaps be buoyed by the fact that there is at least some regular contact from the Blues, and the fact the two clubs share the same owners there could be a nudge for manager Patrick Vieira to try and get the best out of the two Chelsea players in the coming weeks.
