Keanu Reeves has already entered promotional mode for John Wick: Chapter 4, over three months prior to the release of the latest installment in the action-packed franchise. The veteran actor, known for his role as the career hitman John Wick, participated in a panel discussion at CCXP 22 (formerly Comic Con Experience) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This promotional event comes shortly after the confirmation that Reeves will reprise his role as John Wick for a fifth time in the spin-off movie, Ballerina, with Ana de Armas as the lead.
Reeves, aged 58, appeared to thoroughly enjoy his time on stage interacting with fans and journalists, sharing anecdotes about his experiences portraying John Wick across four films.
Clad in a black suit paired with a matching t-shirt and brown boots, he engaged energetically with his audience, even adopting animated body language, including getting down on his hands and knees at one point. The filming for John Wick: Chapter 4 concluded approximately a year ago, with the majority of the shoot taking place in Berlin and Paris, supplemented by additional scenes filmed in Japan and New York City.
As post-production work on John Wick: Chapter 4 nears completion and promotional activities intensify, Ana de Armas has commenced filming for Ballerina in Prague. Taking over the character Rooney from Unity Phelan, de Armas steps into this spin-off under the direction of franchise newcomer Len Wiseman, with a screenplay penned by Shay Hatten and Emerald Fennell.
The John Wick series, directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, has enjoyed both critical acclaim and commercial success, grossing over $587 million worldwide across the first three films. The franchise’s trajectory at the box office has seen a noteworthy increase from the original 2014 film to its subsequent sequels, with each installment surpassing its predecessor in terms of revenue.
John Wick: Chapter 4 boasts a cast including Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and Lance Reddick reprising their roles from previous films, alongside Keanu Reeves. Similarly, all four actors are set to return for Ballerina, which follows de Armas’s character on a quest for vеngеance against those responsible for her family’s demise.
While there’s yet to be an official release date for the Ballerina spin-off, fans eagerly await its premiere along with the continued success of the John Wick franchise.
