Elizabeth Olsen responds to online theories that Wanda Maximoff has become a ‘villain’ on talk show

Elizabeth Olsen responded to rumors that her Wanda Maximoff character has become a villain during an appearance on Wednesday on a late-night talk show.

The 33-year-old actress while promoting Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a lime green suit was asked by the host about ‘online theories’.

‘There’s theories online that say maybe your character in this film ends up being the villain,’ said host Jimmy, 47.

‘Yes, I’ve heard about this,’ Elizabeth said.

‘I’ve seen the film. I can’t …this is me acting, this is my poker face,’ Jimmy said.

‘Well, you know, I don’t think of any character I play as a villain, or a bad guy, or a good guy,’ Elizabeth said.

‘Of course, not, we love Elizabeth Olsen,’ Jimmy said.

‘Okay,’ Jimmy said.

‘I just played an axe murderer and I love her and I think she’s fabulous,’ Elizabeth quipped.

‘Coming to you in fall,’ she laughed.

Jimmy earlier congratulated Elizabeth for the success of her Emmy-nominated Disney+ series WandaVision and asked her about the awards show experience.

‘It was very surprising. No one does a Marvel job and thinks you’re going to get nominated for something,’ Elizabeth said laughing.

The Los Angeles native also promoted her new children’s book Hattie Harmony that she wrote with her husband Robbie Arnett, 30.

‘Hattie Harmony. She’s a worry detective,’ Elizabeth explained.

She said they came up with the project while in lockdown during COVID and the first book in the series will be out in June.

‘So, she’s a worry detective, and she helps her friends at school identify their feelings and then she has a tool kit. And she gives them tools to help deal with their worries and their anxieties. And it’s a book series I’m really excited about,’ Elizabeth said.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will be released in US theaters on Friday.

Elizabeth portrays Wanda Maximoff and her alter ego Scarlet Witch in the film starring Benedict Cumberbatch, 45, in the title role.
