Cristiano Ronaldo’s son follows dad’s example with a perfect volley kick as proud dad praises his son’s skills: ‘Nothing is a coincidence’

Anything you can do I can do better – that was the attitude of Cristiano Ronaldo Jr as he emulated his dad’s incredible overhead kick ahead of the Madrid derby.

The seven-year-old has shown flashes of his footballing genes and he seized the opportunity when allowed on the Bernabeu pitch on Sunday as he looked to copy the technique shown by his dad.

Real Madrid icon Ronaldo tore Juventus apart in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals and topped off his man of the match performance with a phenomenal overhead kick goal.

And ahead of the Madrid derby, the 33-year-old’s son couldn’t resist taking aim himself

Ronaldo Jr has previously looked to mimic the behaviour of his esteemed father when he looked to copy his trademark goal celebration.

He flexed his muscles topless and the effort was put out on Ronaldo’s official Instagram page with fans fawning over the father and son’s similarities.

With Ronaldo approaching the final years of his incredible career in the game, he has high hopes for his son after his football skill-set continues to blossom.

His son no doubt would have appreciated the footballing lesson he saw on Sunday as his dad broke the deadlock in the first half.

Ronaldo smartly converted on the volley to give Zinedine Zidane’s side the lead before Antoine Griezmann levelled and both sides shared the points.

Real Madrid’s attention now turns to the Champions League as they prepare to face Juventus in the second leg at the Bernebau on Wednesday.

The quarter-final tie is largely a formality after Zidane’s side scored three away goals – two by Ronaldo – and one eye will be on the semi-finals with the draw taking place on Friday, April 13.
