Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now keen on signing two top players who actually play in the exact same position.
According to Simon Phillips Talks Chelsea, the Blues are considering bids to sign both Alphonso Davies and Valentin Barco.
The left-back position is arguably the one which has the least security over its future at Stamford Bridge right now.
While vice-captain Ben Chilwell started the early games of the season, he again fell foul of injury problems that have continued to impact his career in recent years.
The form of the club does seem to have taken a positive turn since he last played though, and in this time the role has predominantly been occupied by Marc Cucurella.
The Spaniard is enjoying somewhat of a revival this season for the Blues, after it looked so certain that he would be on the move over the summer.
Chelsea in for two left-backs
The club were even willing to accept a loan deal for the defender in the late hours of the window, however he remained at Stamford Bridge to the disposal of Mauricio Pochettino.
The manager has also used Levi Colwill in that role a lot this season, with him looking very competent there as well as in the middle.
However, it has now been claimed that they are still willing to strengthen in this position, with Davies and Barco names on the list.
The latter, noted by those who haven’t seen him play as a lookalike to Kevin de Bruyne, is currently reviewing his options as he looks set to leave Boca Juniors.
Reports have linked Davies with a move away from Bayern Munich, and it has been noted in the past that he was a fan of the Blues growing up.
They are likely to face fierce competition for his signature though considering just how promising his career looks to go.
