Lisa is considered a treasure of Thailand. Even though she lives in Korea, the youngest member of BlackPink is always conscious of promoting her homeland’s culture and products and has many times helped people in the Southeast Asian country trade and sell clothes at high prices.
Buriram meatballs
Buriram meatballs are popular after Lisa’s sharing.
Lisa was born and raised in Buriram province – a name meaning “city of happiness”. In September 2021, when appearing on the Thai TV show Woody Show , the beauty born in 1997 excitedly shared about her favorite dish, meatballs.
“They are really popular. People buy and eat them immediately at Buriram train station. The highlight is the sauce only available in Buriram. That place is so delicious, you can’t find it anywhere else,” she said.
This seemingly fleeting statement caused meatball sales in Buriram to skyrocket. According to the Bangkok Post , some local shop owners said their income increased from a few hundred baht to more than 10,000 baht (300 USD) per day.
Traditional headdress
Lisa impressed with her regal appearance in traditional Thai clothes.
In her solo debut LALISA , Lisa added many items representing Thai culture, including traditional costumes, in the music video.
Traders from Bangkok told Reuters sales of traditional costumes and accessories soared thanks to the youngest member BlackPink.
“A lot of people order from us online. At the store, we continuously welcome a large number of customers visiting every day. They asked what kind of headgear we had, what style and what color,” said Samorn Suthiwong, owner of a shop in Bangkok.
Thai Sarong
Lisa wore a Thai sarong to the temple.
There is no debate that Lisa is a highly influential fashion icon. Every item she wears is “sold out”, from high-end to affordable.
In June, Lisa posted on Instagram photos taken at Ayutthaya, a famous historical site in Thailand. In the photo, Lisa wears a traditional Thai sarong. Soon after, Thai sarongs became a trend on social networks. The person who benefited the most was Suwimol Chaiwing, the owner of the store where Lisa bought her sarongs.
“When I sent it, I didn’t expect her (Lisa) to wear it. I’m so happy that she chose to wear it and I want to thank Lisa because she is representative of the new generation. She can inspire the younger generation to wear Thai clothes to the temple and make the younger generation realize the value of Thai fabrics,” the owner shared.
Nong Pho Milk
The youngest member of BlackPink filmed a clip dancing and drinking milk with friends.
The TikTok video recorded Lisa dancing and drinking Nong Pho sterilized milk with her friends, causing sales of this drink to increase unbelievably.
Klahan Kaewjean, Chairman of Nong Pho Dairy Cooperative, said orders for dairy products increased three times. However, they guarantee to satisfy all orders.
Minced shrimp omelet
Lisa’s minced shrimp omelet helps the restaurant owner attract customers.
In mid-November, Lisa participated in Spotify’s Billions Club series. On the show, she shows off her skills in cooking Khai jiao, a traditional Thai minced shrimp omelet, that she loves to celebrate Money reaching one billion streams.
Lisa’s influence is once again effective in her homeland. Restaurant owners in Thailand suddenly sold out overnight.
“Omelette rice sold very well after Lisa showed off her skills in cooking her favorite minced shrimp omelet. Many fans flocked to the restaurant,” a Thai news agency reported.
The owner of the omelet rice stall at Din Daeng market in Khon Kaen city said he used to be the only person who cooked and sold Khai jiao in the area. Every day, she only uses 5-6 eggs. However, after Lisa’s video, she had to recruit more assistants and increase her cooking ingredients many times over.
She expressed her gratitude to Lisa and hoped that the female idol could visit her booth one day and taste the food for free.
