Why Selena Gomez Is ‘Too Scared’ to Call Rihanna for Beauty Industry Advice

There’s really no denying it, Rihanna is one of the biggest style icons of our generation. But she’s much more than that, too. She’s an incredible vocalist, the founder of her own clothing company, Savage X Fenty and a successful beauty company, Fenty Beauty. On top of it all, she is a mom to two young children.

She has commanded respect in each and every industry that she’s entered into, and not only among her fans and followers. Fellow stars find her just as inspiring as the rest of us. Among those who look up to her is Selena Gomez, a formidable force in the acting, music and beauty industries in her own right.

Despite her personal success, the Rare Beauty founder still looks up to Rihanna, particularly in the makeup space, she told Women’s Wear Daily in a recent interview.

“She is who she is and she’s proud to be that,” Gomez said of the powerhouse star. “And I love that she has done what she’s wanted to do with her life and takes control of it. It’s really admirable.” Ironically, we might say the exact same thing about the 31-year-old herself.

Despite admiring Rihanna and her work, she has yet to seek advice from her. “I’m too scared — and I feel like she’s a mom and busy,” she said.

While it’s true that the 35-year-old has a lot going on, we tend to think she would make time for her fellow star. Perhaps one day, we’ll witness a collab between the two. In the meantime, we’ll keep dreaming.
