A little lie doesn’t hurt sometimes.
Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actresses, Sandra Bullock was not so lucky in her professional life.
Today we know her as one of the most charismatic in the business. Name any hit rom-com or comedy and there’s a good chance she’ll be in it.
Lately, Bullock has even become a regular in post-apocalyptic thrillers and action films. But her story, as we mentioned, hasn’t been easy. She had to work hard to get to where she is now.
Aside from that, Bullock had to do a little more…
It seems that Bullock had to lie a lot at the beginning of her career. She had to do that to keep those who auditioned her from knowing her real age.
For example, the creators of 1992’s Love Potion No. 9 wanted a 29-year-old star to play the lead role in the movie.
But our favorite actress was a little younger than that. Still, that didn’t stop her from auditioning and, more importantly, convincing the producers that she was the right person for the part.
That particular comedy wasn’t the only time Bullock lied about her age, however. In an old interview with Detour Magazine, she also admitted that she had lost count of how many times she actually lied in order to land a movie role.
“After a while, you really have no idea how old you are because you’ve lied so many times. I always said I would never lie, but one time when I didn’t, it worked against me. So I figure you just keep them guessing,” she shared in the interview.
But all that was before she got her big break in the film world with Jan de Bont’s movie тιтled Speed. Playing alongside Keanu Reeves made her shine and she finally stopped lying around to get roles.
That was the moment when producers themselves started hunting for Bullock to star in their movies.
