A video has emerged from the Club World Cup showing Chelsea legend N’golo Kante scoring what is a rare goal for his illustrious career.
The post on TNT Sports’ Twitter shows the Frenchman hit a sensational half-volley from the edge of the box to double his side’s lead in the Club World Cup last night.
Kante has taken his talents to Saudi Arabia this season after there was no new contract for him to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Injuries had become a real issue for him at Chelsea, with him not really being able to have an impact on his last couple seasons here.
This has not stopped him having a real impact on his new side, who are now competing to win the Club World Cup.
The Frenchman has of course been part of a side who have already won this trophy, putting the final cherry on top of Roman Abramovich’s tenure as club owner.
Kante scores screamer at Club World Cup
He has helped Al-Ittihad to a win in their opener this time around in some style.
After a cross was headed partially clear, the midfielder hit a fantastic half-volley from the edge of the box to make it 2-0, in a game that finished 3-0 to the Saudi side.
He was joined in celebrations by international companion Karim Benzema, who was clearly very impressed with what he saw.
They will be looking forward to the potential prospect of facing Manchester City at some stage in that competition.
Chelsea supporters meanwhile will currently be thinking about better days when a fully-fit version of Kante was running things in the middle of the park for them.
There are still high hopes for the partnership of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, however so far they are not living up to the hype that comes with successive club-record signings at Stamford Bridge.
