Conor McGregor seen dodging punches and barking instructions from ringside as Deontay Wilder takes brutal beating

Conor McGregor struggled to contain his emotions while watching Deontay Wilder take a brutal beating during the Day of Reckoning.

‘Notorious’ sat at ringside with Cristiano Ronaldo for the entertaining night of action in Saudi Arabia, which was capped off by Anthony Joshua’s win over Otto Wallin.

However, it was the co-main event that got him out of his seat.

Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker rolled back the years as he easily outpointed Wilder over 12 rounds and derailed a potential fight between the American and Joshua.

In round eight, Parker landed a monstrous overhand right that wobbled his rival, who somehow managed to survive the massive onslaught of punches that followed.

A camera was on McGregor during the whole sequence and the former dual-weight UFC champion was seen going through a multitude of emotions while watching it play out.

McGregor put his hands on his head and screamed when Parker landed the biggest punch of the fight.

The 35-year-old jumped out of his seat and started to duck out of the way of punches Parker was hurling at Wilder as he tried to close the show in style.

At this point, McGregor seems to realise ‘The Bronze Bomber’ has survived the flurry, and he barks an instruction before returning to his seat next to one of football’s greatest.

Moments later, he was back out of his chair, shouting orders at Wilder and applauding both men as they headed back to their corners after the round ended.

McGregor’s advice did little to help Wilder as he slumped to a third career loss courtesy of 118-110, 118-111, and 120-108 scorecards in favour of his opponent.

The UFC star wants to get back to what he does best in 2024.

McGregor broke his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier in July 2021 and hasn’t fought since – but he is booked to return against lightweight contender Michael Chandler.

It’s currently unclear exactly when they will fight, and McGregor told talkSPORT he is ready to box Manny Pacquaio instead if he doesn’t get a comeback date soon.

“They are talking Manny here in Saudi,” he said.

“The lads in the UFC aren’t really talking any.

“Give me something. I’m supposed to be back in April. It was supposed to be December!

“I’m waiting! And my patience is wearing thin on me waiting.”
