What can we say about Hailey Bieber, who the whole world probably knows? It is dizzying to get to know a celebrity who is surrounded by 42 million followers. We asked the most benevolent of our French writers to tell us her perception of Hailey. Hailey Bieber by Sophie Fontanel sees the recent author of Capitale de la douceur (ed. Seghers) speak to the charming star in a conversation that feels candlelit. Hailey the comet, evanescent and close.
Softness is an extreme need in this strange world. This fragile spring, with Cannes Film Festival about to start, we wanted to highlight a new guard of actresses and female directors. We noticed that there is still a strong commitment in their choice of films, and that the softness of their regard serves as a real determination. For example, we can only admire the pugnacity of Luàna Bajrami who, at 21 years old, directed her first film The Hill Where the Lionesses Roar, returning to her native country, Kosovo, whose tragic past we know, and who expresses the wild desire for the future and optimism of her generation…
There is also a softness, although tinged with melancholy, in looking back over our history. The pH๏τo you see on the editorial page of the magazine dates back to 1989, under the aegis of Irene Silvagni, then fashion editor of Vogue, who recently pᴀssed, as did Patrick Demarchelier. Vogue by Irene, these were some of the most beautiful images of softness in the magazine, often sH๏τ by Peter Lindbergh and Paolo Roversi, her two favorite pH๏τographers. Colombe Pringle, Vogue editor-in-chief from 1987 to 1996, pays tribute to her and tells this story that everyone working in the press has experienced. How Irene went to great lengths to get extra pages to fully dedicate them to a fashion series she believed in. It has not changed that much… Rising up just to show an image of softness, it’s nothing but everything when it comes to making a beautiful magazine, especially when it’s called Vogue.
