The Tom Cruise-starrer Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 2 has been reportedly delayed yet again. The eighth part of the action franchise had its production schedule postponed initially due to the promotional tours of Dead Reckoning – Part 1 earlier this year, and has been postponed again due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
However, there have been reports that another, more personal reason is the cause of the delay. Cruise, who has been a vocal supporter of the religion Scientology, has reportedly started distancing himself from the religion. This has apparently led to some distance between him and his children Isabella and Connor Cruise, who are also Scientologists.

Tom Cruise’s History With ScientologyTom Cruise and Mimi Rogers
Actor Tom Cruise reportedly joined the Church of Scientology in the late 80s after being converted by his first wife Mimi Rogers. Many stories have been reported about Cruise being chased after by the people at the Church to get endorsed by an A-lister.
Cruise was reportedly given special treatment by the Church’s leader David Miscavige in an attempt to make him join. Revealed in the book, Inside Scientology: The Story of America’s Most Secretive Religion by Janet Reitman, Tom Cruise allegedly started getting deep into the religion but had a ‘freak out’ after the Church started talking about their prophet Xenu.

He left the Church and went on to make the film Eyes Wide Shut with his then-wife Nicole Kidman. However, the actor was then ‘retrieved’ by a member of the Church and was back into the fold. Tom Cruise has been a huge advocate of the Church since then, being very vocal about it since the 2000s.
Cruise and Kidman’s adopted children Isabella and Connor Cruise were also inducted into the Church of Scientology and are still members of the religion. Cruise’s third wife, actress Katie Holmes, reportedly filed for divorce partly to protect their daughter Suri from the Church.

Has Tom Cruise Left The Church Of Scientology?Tom Cruise at the Church of Scientology
Tom Cruise has been closely associated with the Church of Scientology and is one of their most vocal proponents. Cruise has reportedly lobbied for the Church’s status as a recognized religion in Europe and the USA
However, it has been rumored that Cruise has been avoiding the Church for the past three years. The actor has been based out of the UK to film his action film Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning but has reportedly never visited the Church’s UK Headquarters.
According to the Daily Mail, the actor has been drifting from the Church for quite some time and was not seen visiting the UK Headquarters, while also speculating that he could be attending the Church’s Central London branch.
Tom Cruise’s ‘religious crisis’ has also reportedly led to a rift between him and his children, who are active members of the Church. In fact, his daughter Isabella recently revealed that she had been made an ‘Auditor’ in the Church. Many speculations indicate that this crisis may be one of the reasons for the delay of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part 2.
