Haaland’s entourage ‘laughed off’ the possibility of signing for Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s upcoming summer transfer window is already taking shape despite there being close to four months remaining before it officially commences.

At this point, it is no secret that the likes of Kylian Mbappe is all but set to don the white jersey next season and significantly boost Carlo Ancelotti’s artillery, with Alphonso Davies’ signing also being weighed up.

A third option being considered is Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Signing Mbappe and the Norweigan superstar in the same transfer window is an idea that may appear impractical, but sources have confirmed that it is possible.

Haaland’s situation

Since his move to the Premier League in 2022, Haaland has only grown in value. As one of world’s football’s most threatening forces in the final third, it is no surprise that Real Madrid continues to be linked with the striker despite facing his rejection two years ago.

According to reports from The Athletic, the Norwegian superstar’s close entourage privately laugh off the possibility of Haaland signing for Real Madrid. They see it to be close to impossible, especially given Mbappe’s arrival at the club.

The player, however, has always liked the idea of playing for the iconic Spanish giants.

Even if a move does not come to fruition this summer, a move in 2025 can not be ruled out, but there is an equally strong case for the youngster to sign an extension with Pep Guardiola’s side meanwhile.

The economic aspect

While it does sound ludicrous on paper, Real Madrid have it feasible to sign football’s two biggest names in the same summer transfer window. The aforementioned probability is dictated by two primary factors.

For starters, Mbappe’s move to Madrid is a free transfer in theory, thus minimising a big part of the financial muscle that Los Blancos would have to exercise otherwise.

Even the signing-on bonus they offer the Frenchman is insignificant when compared to the fee PSG demanded for the player last summer.

As for Haaland’s situation, the striker’s contract with Manchester City holds a special release clause for clubs outside of England. Considering that the aforementioned figure stands below €150 million, signing the protege is well within Real Madrid’s reach.
