Xabi Alonso dreams of coaching Real Madrid, could stay at Leverkusen for now

Real Madrid are gearing up for an important summer ahead. Kylian Mbappe looks destined to join the club on a free transfer, along with Brazilian whizkid Endrick.

On the managerial front, however, Real Madrid are likely to retain the services of Carlo Ancelotti, whose contract was extended until 2026 in late December.

It appears the club are content with Ancelotti’s services. The Italian, after all, has played a key role in building a formidable first team while nurturing young talents such as Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo, among others.

Xabi Alonso considering Bayer Leverkusen stay

Everything suggests Ancelotti will continue at Santiago Bernabeu beyond 2024, which means the managerial position at Real Madrid will remain filled in the coming summer.

This comes at a time when Xabi Alonso could be an option in the market. The Spaniard has enjoyed immense success at Bayer Leverkusen and is on his way to guiding Die Werkself to a Bundesliga title.

However, in a major update, journalist Christopher Michel has claimed that Xabi Alonso is considering staying at Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

It appears the Spaniard will not consider joining any other club this summer and continue with B04 next season.

Waiting for the Real Madrid opportunity?

Alonso’s decision to remain at Leverkusen can be considered a major hint at his desire to coach Real Madrid – his dream job.

With Ancelotti likely to stay at the Bernabeu this summer, joining Los Blancos for the season ahead is certainly ruled out.

But instead of finding other opportunities, Alonso is ready to wait for the Real Madrid opportunity.

Although Ancelotti’s contract at the Bernabeu does not expire until 2026, one would expect the Italian to come under fire sooner than later, especially if Real Madrid fail to win any silverware, perhaps even in the ongoing campaign.
