There’s also the option of the NFL Draft. The Jets have five total picks and the 10th overall pick. Investing in a backup quarterback doesn’t seem like a favorable choice, given the pick order. They could go for a veteran QB like Jacoby Brissett or a more affordable option in the form of rookie Sam Howell. Another name who might be a good fit in the New York roster is Ryan Tanehill. The Titan’s experienced starter is the go to option for the team if they want a reliable support for Rogers. Tanehill comes with an impressive record of 81-70. According to Pro Football Focus, his contract will be worth $11.5 million for the next season, which can be an attractive option.

If the Jets want to further save up, Washington Commanders’ Sam Howell is a good way to go. With 3946 yards, 21 touchdowns and 21 interceptions in 2023, the QB shows potential for the coming season. Under a rookie contract with a pay of $1 million per season, Howell will not pose a significant dent on New York’s cap space.
