Throughout the first half of the season, Arda Guler was being held back by his injuries at Real Madrid. Having suffered a gruesome knee injury in preseason soon after his arrival, followed by muscular blows immediately upon recovery, the Turkish phenom did not have it easy.
The 19-year-old is now back to full fitness, yet, has not seen many minutes under Carlo Ancelotti. He has played just 92 minutes across all competitions thus far, and the situation appears to be getting out of hand now.
A mess in the making
According to reports from AS (h/t SPORT), Guler and his entourage are growing fed up with his situation at Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old sees his success with the Merengues to be a lost cause and the situation between him and the coaching staff is getting ‘complicated’.
Guler’s disappointment with Ancelotti has been publicly seen on multiple occasions, the most glaring of which arrived when he threw his bib on the ground after warming up and not being called on.
That is something that has not gone down well with the coaching staff, who are not going to accept any pressure from either the player or his environment to give him minutes.
It now appears set that he will not have a major role in the team this season, given Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham’s form.
A departure on the cards?
The publication reveals that the player’s disappointment is reflected in the overall reaction to his situation in Turkey. Guler is very popular in his home country, and his lack of minutes at Real Madrid has not gone down well there.
Moreover, his reduced prominence may affect his participation in the European championships and the manager may deem him far from match fit.
As it stands, a departure from Real Madrid in the summer could be a possibility for Guler, with there being no shortage of suitors to sign him on loan.
