Sal’s Jets silver lining: Aaron Rodgers won’t tolerate being part of ‘laughingstock’
Sal, feeling bad that BT’s Jets were once again being dragged through the mud on Tuesday morning, tried to throw his co-host a bone in the wake of Mecole Hardman’s explosive comments on The Pivot Podcast about his former team.
That bone came in the shape of Aaron Rodgers, who Sal says won’t stand for his team to be embarrassed like the Jets have been since his Achilles injury, and will be even more focused to silence the critics and get his revenge.
“If there is one guy who will not tolerate any of that, there is one guy who will not be the butt of any jokes or a part of a laughingstock, it’s Aaron Rodgers,” Sal said. “Do I believe he’s gonna take them to a Super Bowl? Probably not…but I know, not only is Aaron Rodgers one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, he’s also a tremendous competitor.
“It’s his team. He’s the man. Not Joe Douglas, not Woody Johnson…this is Aaron Rodgers’ team. When people come at the Jets, they’re coming at Aaron Rodgers. I will want them…there is one guy I wouldn’t want on my bad side.”
BT appreciated the gesture, but still isn’t convinced that Rodgers, at nearly 41 years old, will have the power to change the narrative around the Jets before having to call it a career. Maybe not, but Sal believes Rodgers will give it his all.
“You know he’s not gonna tolerate this stuff,” Sal said. “You know this will make him more motivated and more irate.”
