Forbes has unveiled its annual compilation of the highest-paid celebrities, with the hip-hop artists’ roster boasting some unexpected revelations. Leading the pack once again is Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, raking in $70M from his ventures spanning Ciroc vodka, DeLeon tequila, Aquahydrate water, a significant share of Sean Jean, and his Bad Boy Reunion Tour—illustrating his deep involvement in every facet of his enterprises.
Knocking JAY-Z from the second position is Aubrey Graham, better known as Drake, amassing $94M over the past year. Despite impressive music sales, the Canadian rapper’s primary earnings stemmed from his highly successful Boy Meets World Tour. Additionally, lucrative partnerships with Apple, Sprite, and Nike contributed substantially to his wealth. JAY-Z secures the third spot with earnings of $42M, with more on the horizon as he recently inked a lucrative deal with Live Nation, promising him $200M over the next decade.
Among the 20 listed rap artists, it’s noteworthy that Nicki Minaj stands as the sole woman, earning $16M in the past year, placing her at No. 16. Despite their chart-topping records, Remy Ma and Cardi B are absent from the list due to the lack of major endorsement deals. Notably, newcomer Lil Yachty claims the 20th spot with earnings of $11M, thanks to partnerships with Target, Sprite, and Nautica.
With hopes for increased inclusivity in the industry, it’s anticipated that more women will ascend to the top echelons of the hip-hop wealth ladder.
