As one of the K-Pop groups to beat the seven-year curse, BLACKPINK is still going strong in their eighth year. And among the changes they’ve noticed in the industry, Jennie told the Apartment 404 cast how it felt to be older than the younger generations of idols.
BLACKPINK’s Jennie
When comedian Yoo Jae Suk asked Jennie if she was twenty-nine years old, the idol quickly corrected him by saying she just turned twenty-seven.
Her swift response made Yoo Jae Suk joke that “age has become a sensitive topic” for the singer. After the two laughed, Jennie explained why she’d cleared it up so quickly.
Jennie revealed that it’s been a strange experience to finally be among the older idols in the industry and have so many juniors who are nearly ten years younger than her.
It’s been so weird! When I returned to Korea after working abroad for a while, I suddenly became a big sunbae among other K-pop artists! I really can’t get used to it. Now, everyone’s like seven years younger than I am.
