Stone has a tight-knit relationship with her parents, referring to them as the “coolest parents in the world” during a 2011 interview with Vanity Fair.
“My dad’s whole philosophy, my mom’s too, is start with the reins out, and if you do something that should break the trust, then the reins come in — instead of starting the reins in and letting them out — which is awful because it turned me into Pinocchio,” she joked of her inability to lie to her parents.
“Since everything was allowed, it made me not want to do crazy s—,” she added.
When Stone won leading actress at the 2024 BAFTA Awards for her role in Poor Things in February 2024, she made sure to thank her mom “in case I don’t ever get a chance to again.”
“I really want to thank my mom because she’s the best person I know in the world and she inspires me every single day and she’s always made me believe this kind of crazy idea that I could do something like this and I’m beyond grateful,” she said. “Without her none of this exists, including my life, so thanks for that too, mom. Thank you so much.”
She made her parents a PowerPoint presentation when she wanted to become an actress
When Stone wanted to pursue an acting career full-time, she told Jimmy Kimmel that she made her parents a PowerPoint presentation to convince them.
During her interview with Vanity Fair, she revealed that her parents wouldn’t entertain the idea until she found an agent. She eventually linked up with a local acting coach who helped her book a few auditions.

After Stone signed with the Savage Agency, she and her mother signed a six-month lease at the Park La Brea so that she could pursue her acting career full-time.
Following various failed auditions, Stone got her big break when her mother convinced her to audition for the VH1’s The New Partridge Family, a reality show to cast a reboot of The Partridge Family. Though the pilot of the reboot never aired, Stone met her manager through the process, paving the way for many future roles.

As her mother underwent a year and a half of chemotherapy, Stone was by her mother’s side. “I’m sure, in private, Em lived in fear and anxiety,” Krista said of her daughter’s support. “But she really shifted into this [mindset of], ‘We’re going to take care of this and everything’s going to be fine.'”
In 2012, Stone and her mother participated in the 15th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women, which raises money for women’s cancer research, counseling and outreach programs.
