Will Dex Really Turn On Sonny Under Anna’s Employ — Or Is She In For A Surprise?

General Hospital spoilers hint Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) didn’t exactly think things through before he raced over to the PCPD and blurted out the truth about Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to Police Commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).

Coming Up On General Hospital

Dex’s confession completely blindsided Anna. Still, with no evidence of Sonny’s alleged crimes, she knew it wasn’t worth the risk of trying to persecute Sonny. That would only land Dex in troubled waters, at risk of being taken out by the mob kingpin.

Likewise, Dex was just as blindsided when Anna reached out days later with interest in hiring him to give him extra protection as he worked to help her put Sonny away.

Now the real question is: Will Dex stick to his guns to get this job done, or will his affection and respect for his former boss come into play and lead him to cross Anna instead?

Dex Heller Didn’t Want It to Be This Way

Dex was happy to be working for Sonny, although he was technically working for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), too.

When the truth came out about his double-dipping betrayal, Sonny was ready to make sure Dex never uttered a lie again, but Carly swooped in to save him at the last minute.

In hindsight, Sonny may have been grateful for that since it forced the truth to come out and gave him the opportunity to let Dex loose, even if just for Josslyn ‘Joss’ Jacks’ (Eden McCoy) sake.

Now, it is Joss who has motivated Dex to turn on Sonny and make something of himself she can be proud of. But if he manages to get her back, his zest for raking Sonny over the coals could fade. Then what?

GH Spoilers – Leak Anna Devane Builds Her Case

Anna has finally seen the light where Sonny is concerned, and she’s ready to hash it out with Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) if and when she has to.

As Anna works to collect evidence on Sonny, it’s hardly going to be as easy for Dex to gather it as it once was. He’s not on the inside of Sonny’s organization anymore, but that doesn’t mean they can’t try to plant someone else in it.

Besides, Dex knows the inner workings of the don’s operations; that’s why he had to be sent away before — so he wouldn’t be compromised by one of Sonny’s enemies. News flash: he’s got a new one and her name is Anna Devane.

General Hospital Spoilers — This Goes One of Two Ways

There may not be a happy ending or a long-term plan for Dex in Port Charles unless he ends up putting Sonny back at the top of his list of priorities.

Chances are, Joss isn’t going to like that, but there’s still time for her to come around and recognize the importance of keeping her family intact.

Point blank — Dex will either get caught working for Anna at some point, or he’ll switch teams and pretend he’s doing so while looping Sonny in on everything that is going on.

That may be preferable to betraying him all over again, knowing Sonny would never give him another chance to just walk away and start over with a new life somewhere else.

I would never kiss his fur again, feel his warmth, or his reassuring presence leaning firmly against my knee. My dearest companion was gone. I bent double and let out a long and primal scream. Someone handed me a glass. Our neighbourhood’s much-loved vet, Andrew Carmichael, was there holding a stiff whisky and also wiping away tears. Now in his 80s, Andrew has euthanised countless animals, yet…’This job gets harder, not easier,’ he said. ‘Here’s to dear Wolfy and to the others that follow. You will love many more dogs in your life.’
