This is not the pop star’s usual haunt.
Taylor Swift’s version of a “super chill” Los Angeles outing typically involves $168 Wagyu at Spago or lunch at Nobu Malibu with her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce, so many SoCal girlies were surprised to see the 34-year-old pop star at Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood on April 4.
“Barney’s is where we went in college when we were already shit-faced and tryna buy one beer for like $5,” Glamour editor Sam Reed tells me after TMZ published photos and video of Swift at the WeHo dive bar for a friend’s birthday sans Kelce. Though she was spotted in a booth with a group of people, she exited the bar alone…as long as you don’t count her security team.
According to the publication, Swift “spent a couple hours talking and eating before heading out—and having one of her security guards pay the tab upon her exit.” It’s hard to make out exactly what Swift was wearing, but it looks as though she was dressed comfortably and didn’t bother going incognito until she left the premises, throwing on a baseball cap on her way out the door. You can see that video here.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been spending a lot of their free time in Los Angeles now that Kelce is on break between football seasons and Swift has time off from the Eras Tour, which picks back up in Europe in May following the release of The Tortured Poets Department on April 19. Speaking as a Los Angeles Swiftie who can’t afford Nobu, Spago, or even Sushi Park, a Taylor Swift sighting feels just as unlikely when she’s based in California as anywhere else on the planet, but now it seems I have to worry about walking into my favorite singer on a random night out in WeHo. The pressure’s on.
Of course, it’s impossible to know where the couple might pop up next. According to the Daily Mail, the pair spent Easter with Jason and Kylie Kelce in Pennsylvania, where Swift reportedly met Travis’s three nieces for the first time before the pair flew back to Los Angeles on April 1. While you should typically take this kind of report with a grain of salt, one TikTok user noticed that Ed Kelce (a.k.a. Papa Kelce) shared the story on his own Facebook page, according to Cosmopolitan. Seems legit.
On that same Monday, Kylie Kelce made a rare statement about Traylor during an appearance on Today. “Ultimately, if Travis is happy, we’re happy,” Kylie Kelce said of witnessing their love story. “We are always cheering on Uncle Trav. It’s such a treat to be able to do that on and off the field. But it’s been amazing.”
Happy is definitely the word Travis would use to describe himself right now. “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” the football player told People on April 2. “I’m a guy that—some people say the glass is half full, half empty, and my glass is all the way full. It’s all the way full. I’m oozing life right now.”
