Once upon a time (like the Elizabethan era), fashion was pain. Emma Stone can attest to that.
The Oscar winner opened up on The Graham Norton Show about the kinda creepy thing that happened to her body after she wore a corset all day for months while filming The Favourite.
“For the first month, I couldn’t breathe. And I would smell menthol and it would make me think I was in a wide-open space and could [actually] breathe for a moment in time,” Stone explained, according to the Daily Mail.
But not even smelling menthol could stop the strange changes that occurred in her body. “After a month, all my organs shifted—it was gross, and if you don’t have to, don’t do it!” Stone said. Um, yeah. That’s terrifying.
She went on to explain how the experience magnified her empathy for women of that era, saying, “Women existed like that for such a long time, which gives you a lot of sympathy for that time period and what they were going through.”
We’ll keep our organs right where they are, thank you very much.
