WWE recently conducted an investigation into allegations Ronda Rousey made about a colleague, Drew Gulak, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported Wednesday.

Rousey alleged during an interview with NewsNation on April 3 that Gulak grabbed the drawstring of her sweatpants as he walked past her backstage at a WWE event in 2022. Gulak said in a social media post that he inadvertently touched the drawstring when going to shake Rousey’s hand.“Regarding Ronda and Drew, what is unique about this one is both claimed there were witnesses,” Alvarez reported. “I was told WWE did an investigation, interviewed people, and Gulak has been murdered in storyline. So I presume that tells you the result of the investigation.”

Gulak did not appear on the April 9 edition of NXT, the show that he has performed on since December 2022. On this week’s episode, though he was not mentioned by name, WWE worked Gulak’s absence into the storytelling of the show and indicated that it will be permanent. Tony D’Angelo (who portrays a mafioso character) told members of Gulak’s No Quarter Catch Crew faction that he had been asked “to take care of one of your own” and complained that he hadn’t been paid for the task.

“Who said anything about payment?” Charlie Dempsey, a member of Gulak’s crew, replied. “I thought you were doing this for the good of the business. There was trash, and it needed to be taken care of. And that’s what you did—you happened to do the industry a bit of good while you were at it.”

Gulak, who wrestles under his real name, first joined WWE in 2016, and has worked for the company’s Raw, SmackDown and NXT brands. He held the WWE cruiserweight championship for three months in 2019. WWE has not commented publicly on the allegations or Gulak’s status with the company.
