“Very Resentful”: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Reportedly Hated Backstage for Passing Controversial Comment in WWE Return

The Rock might not be currently involved in the matters pertaining to the squared circle but that doesn’t mean his name faded to obscurity from the juicy rumor mills. The Final Boss apparently took off his heel persona, post-WrestleMania, to have a harmonious segment with Cody Rhodes. But despite signing off on such a generous note, it seems some people still deem him a genuine villain who seeks attention and steals credit from the deserving.

A shocking report marred the Hollywood star’s fan-favorite image, suggesting strong anti-Dwayne Johnson’s emotions lingering among the fans.

Dwayne Johnson attracts heat from “resentful” colleagues according to a recent report

The Rock heel turn was something that fans were looking forward to for a long time. Coupled with the excitement of a proper stint in the promotion, the WWE Universe had its fill with The Great One, accepting a new lease on life. Despite the backlash from Cody Rhodes fans, a large amount of WWE buffs rejoiced about Dwayne Johnson embracing his non-filtered side. The Brahma Bull did his part in elevating WrestleMania season with his explosive moves and snarky comments on the mic. That said, not everyone is a fan of what The Rock said with a mic in his hand.

Apart from the PG rules controversy stemming from the WWE higher-ups, some of his colleagues did not take kindly to some of his remarks. They found it oddly smug.

Spilling the reality (or rumor) in his Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted, ”No one can say anything bad about him publicly but there are people who are very resentful of him going like ‘I came back and wrestling is cool’ after WWE had a tremendous year, and the idea that he’s kinda trying to take credit for this resurgence that happened a year before came back.”

But does their claim against The Great One hold weight? Let’s do a rationality check.

The Rock’s contribution to WWE’s noticeable growth in the last few months: Explained

Despite all the heat, very few people possess the audacity to deny Dwayne Johnson’s mammoth star power. While it’s true that Johnson isn’t the sole reason for WWE ushering into a whole new era of success, he has done the heavy lifting impressively since his return. At the age of 51, the actor didn’t just resume his in-ring career but also dived in head-first, delivering some top-notch moments in modern wrestling history.

After his formidable bloody attack on Rhodes on the weekly TV, the viewership rating graph took a sharp surge, and it continues up to WrestleMania 40 where The Brahma Bull stole the spotlights with his astounding entrance and performance. So regardless of the direction of the debate, it can safely be said that Johnson has been one of the most bankable superstars that the decade has ever seen. What’s your take on The Brahma Bull getting heat for taking credit for WWE’s recent success? Let us know in the comments.
