ORLANDO, FLORIDA – DECEMBER 17: Tiger Woods and his daughter, Sam Woods, laugh together on the 10th tee box during the final round of the PNC Championship at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club on December 17, 2023 in Orlando, Florida.
If you’ve watched Tiger Woods during a golf event on Sunday, then you know that he always wears a red shirt.
Woods has been wearing the red-colored shirts on Sundays for over 20+ years and revealed during a recent interview that it’s for his mother.
“It comes from my mom. My mom thought it was my being a Capricorn, whatever,” Woods said on The Tonight Show, (first transcribed by OutKick). “It was my power color or some BS thing like that. So, I end up wearing red, winning some junior golf tournaments. And then, to spite her, I wore blue. And I did not win those tournaments. So, mama’s always right.”
Woods has had some legendary moments while wearing the red shirts (especially at The Masters) and has won 15 majors throughout his illustrious career. He’s also won 82 PGA Tour events and recently finished 60th in The Masters in April.
He’ll try and have at least one more great moment in a red shirt on a Sunday before he calls it quits. He still has three majors that he can play in this year, the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and Open Championship.
