‘Unbelievable leap forward’: 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo won Britain’s Man of the Match grant… on his most memorable appearance

KOBBIE MAINOO, who played just 20 minutes for the Three Lions, has already achieved an honor that England great Gary Lineker never had.

Mainoo was also given a legacy cap by England manager Gareth Southgate as a thank you.

In the podcast The Rest Is Football, the former Leicester hero complimented Shearer and said he “didn’t know it was a thing.”

He was forced to make fun of his friend’s gift, though, by joking, “We were all at Wembley for the England vs. Brazil game.”

“To celebrate Terry Venables’ life, a unique celebration was held, and our very own Alan Shearer even accepted his legacy England cap.

“Alan, please explain what that is, as I don’t currently own one. I had no idea that it even existed!

“I wasn’t quite sure what it was; I had to do some digging about,” Shearer said.

“It is my 1,040th time representing England, and that is the significance of the legacy cap.” I have no idea what the remaining numbers are!

“I think they do it in terms of ability, Alan,” quips Lineker.
