A number of sport’s biggest stars were in attendance to watch Oleksandr Usyk topple Tyson Fury in a fight for the ages as the Ukrainian won via split-decision to become the undisputed world heavyweight champion in Riyadh.
After months of build-up, Fury and Usyk finally settled their differences in Riyadh on Saturday night to determine who was the best heavyweight on the planet.
And it was Usyk who made history in the Middle East as he became the first man ever to beat the Gypsy King, making him the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.
And, given the magnitude of the event, a number of sporting idols opted to attend – including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Joshua and Neymar.
Portuguese superstar Ronaldo was seen in good spirits as he arrived at the event, along with two of his sons, before taking his seat ringside next to Joshua.

British heavyweight star Anthony Joshua (left) took his seat on the front row for the huge bout
Despite playing for Al-Nassr on Friday night in their 1-1 draw with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal, the 39-year-old made sure to attend the event.
Ronaldo was also in the front row for Joshua’s victory against Otto Wallin in December, but on that occasion he was placed next to MMA superstar Conor McGregor.
Fellow Saudi Pro League star Neymar was also at the event, before cameras caught the moment he spoke with Ronaldo inside the arena.
The two football legends have rarely been seen conversing, given the fact they were rivals at Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, British heavyweight Joshua also had ringside seats, knowing that he could potentially face the winner of Usyk and Fury’s rematch in the next 12 months.
Joshua has long-been tipped for a fight with fellow British star Fury and, given Usyk is now the undisputed champion, could be set to face the Ukrainian for a third time next year.
Fellow boxer Ryan Garcia – who recently defeated Devin Haney in a blockbuster bout – was also in the crowd and made sure to get a picture with Ronaldo on the night.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was also at the event and offered a confident prediction ahead of the heavyweight clash.
Brazilian footballer Neymar, who plays for Saudi side Al-Hilal, was another star in attendance
Former Man City star Aymeric Laporte and Andriy Schevchenko also watched the fight live
Gerrard, who currently manages Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, revealed he backed Fury to come out successful against his Ukrainian counter-part – and will be disappointed with the outcome.
Looking around, he walked into the building, meeting former Love Island star and presenter Josh Denzel.
In the interview with Denzel, he said: ‘When it is undisputed, when it is Tyson Fury, when it is so big, when it’s in Saudi, I’ve got to be here to witness it’.
Other footballs, both past and present, were also in attendance – with the likes of Andriy Schevchenko and Aymeric Laporte seen at the event in Riyadh.
British boxing legend Amir Khan was in good spirits as he stepped into the arena in Riyadh
Wladimir Klitschko predicted that his compatriot Usyk will prove too good for Fury on the night
A number of boxing legends also made the cut on the night – with Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Amir Khan and David Haye all watched on.
Usyk’s compatriot Klitschko offered his opinion on the bout, as he said: ‘Tyson Fury has an advantage in size and reach. [But] Olekansdr Usyk is one of the most talented in the modern boxing history. Technical fighter.
‘He showed it as cruiserweight and he’s showed it at heavyweight. I’ll keep my fingers crossed’.
Looking away from the sporting world, actor Liev Schreiber was also pictured sitting ringside as he awaited for the main event to begin.
Following his split-decision defeat, Fury sensationally claimed that Usyk was awarded the victory ‘because his country is at war’.
After the bout inside the ring, Fury insisted he had won the fight, claiming that Usyk had only won a few rounds.
‘I believe I won that fight,’ he said to DAZN. ‘And I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them.’

He added: ‘I believe we both put on a good fight – best we could do. And, you know, his country is at war. People are siding with the country at war.
‘Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion.’
Usyk, who held up a Ukraine flag after the fight, thanked his team for helping him succeed, before stating he was ready for the rematch.
‘Thank you so much to my team,’ the new undisputed heavyweight champion said. ‘It’s a big opportunity for my family, for me, for my country. It’s a great time, it’s a great day.
‘Yes, of course. I am ready for a rematch.’
The pair are already scheduled to fight again in October, with Fury adding that he was eager to fight again.
‘We’ll go back to our families and I’ll see him again in October. We’ll go back, rest up,’ Fury said.
‘I believe I won the fight but I’m not going to sit and cry and make excuses. We’ll run it again in October.’
