Conor McGregor sniffs pint of Forged Irish Stout during self-imposed booze ban ahead of Michael Chandler fight

Conor McGregor is determined to stay away from alcohol until after his fight with Michael Chandler.

The former dual-weight champion is set to end his three-year injury layoff when he takes on Chandler at UFC 303 in Las Vegas on June 29.

During his time on the sidelines, McGregor has enjoyed visiting his portfolio of pubs and getting a taste of the alcoholic beverages that have helped him accumulate a £200 million fortune.

However, the 35-year-old recently claimed he will be giving up Proper 12 Irish Whiskey and Forged Irish Stout to fully focus on his return to the Octagon.

Several weeks later, he appeared to be struggling as he updated fans on his sobriety while holding a pint, which he bizarrely sniffed during his first-ever livestream.

“Forged Irish Stout, ladies and gentlemen. Look at the cream on that,” McGregor said before putting his nose to the glass and letting out a sigh after realising he couldn’t take a sip.

He added: “That’s unbelievable, folks.

“I’ve been off the drink. I’ve been off my beautiful products since the 10-week mark. So, we are five weeks and five days out. I’m taking this seriously.”

McGregor flirted with disaster again when he opened a bottle of whiskey and poured himself a glass – but for a second time, all he did was get a whiff of the alcoholic beverage.

When he wasn’t looking forward to his afterparty, the Irishman was fielding questions from fans about his UFC colleagues, who he put on blast for various reasons.

Khabib Nuramgomedov, Kamaru Usman, Ilia Topuria, Belal Muhammad and Alexander Volkanovski, all found themselves in the firing line.

McGregor also said some not-so-nice things about welterweight champion Leon Edwards as he plotted to take his belt and the BMF title Max Holloway holds.

“Leon Edwards, Nate Diaz almost knocked him out, had him out on his feet,” he said.

“If that fight was going on, Leon is unconscious. Also, Cerrone went the distance with him, so I’m looking at all these belts.

“I’d be excited about the bad motherf***er title, and I’d be excited about the welterweight title.”
