Grimes Expresses Concerns Over Elon Musk’s Parenting Style, Requests Custody of Son

Grimes, the Canadian singer and ex-girlfriend of billionaire Elon Musk, has recently voiced her concerns regarding Musk’s approach to parenting their four-year-old son, X Æ A-12, commonly referred to as X. In a candid interview with Wire magazine, Grimes shared her worries that Musk’s intense focus on technology and electronics might be detrimental to their child’s early development, accusing Musk of robbing X of a traditional childhood.

Grimes, who shares two children with Musk, emphasized that while both parents are committed to their children’s upbringing, they have differing philosophies. She noted that their son X has shown an exceptional interest in rockets and electronic toys from a very young age, a trait she attributes to Musk’s influence. “Musk wants to train my son to be a tech mogul heir,” Grimes stated. “He’s already obsessed with rockets, knowing more about them than I do, and it’s honestly quite alarming.”

The singer expressed her desire for X to have a more balanced childhood, including participation in community groups where he can learn, discuss, and share knowledge with peers. “It’s crazy how much he already knows about rockets. My son is set to become a mini-engineer, but I worry about what he’s missing out on in the process,” she added.

Grimes further elaborated on her concerns about Musk’s rigorous approach. “I fear that Musk’s parenting style is stifling our son’s ability to enjoy a normal childhood. He’s only four, and while it’s great he has interests, I think it’s too much too soon,” she said. In light of these concerns, Grimes has publicly requested that Musk return custody of X to her, believing she can provide a more balanced environment.

Despite their differences, both Grimes and Musk have been actively involved in their children’s lives, striving to be more like friends than distant authority figures. Their goal is to bridge the generational gap and ensure their children feel understood and supported. “Musk and I both want to be friends to our children, not just parents,” Grimes explained. “But our methods of achieving that are vastly different.”

The couple also shares a second child, Y, who is still very young. Grimes’s concerns primarily focus on ensuring that both children grow up in a nurturing environment that balances their intellectual growth with the joys of childhood. As the debate over their parenting styles continues, the well-being of X and Y remains at the forefront of their co-parenting efforts.

In the end, Grimes’s plea for custody highlights the complexities and challenges of co-parenting, especially when both parents are high-profile figures with demanding careers. Whether or not Musk will accede to her request remains to be seen, but the primary goal remains clear: providing the best possible upbringing for their children.

The incident occurred on Wednesday above RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, which has been earmarked as a storage facility for US nuclear warheads three times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. While US Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) played down the incursion, it will do little to dampen the prevailing mood of unease following warnings from Vladimir Putin that Ukraine’s use of British and American long-range weaponry could see military facilities in those countries targeted.
