Ronda Rousey claimed the WWE were showing favouritism to Paul because of his celebrity following
Logan Paul doubts Ronda Rousey is a “hater” despite the former WWE and UFC star criticising him.
YouTube Paul has made a successful move into professional wrestling and has been thrust into the limelight by the WWE. But Rousey, who also transitioned to the ring after her successful UFC career, claimed he was being given preferential treatment. But Paul, who has also dabbled in professional boxing, issued a measured response.
“I want to approach this from a real mature standpoint because I like Ronda Rousey, what she’s done in MMA is incredible,” he said on his brother Jake’s podcast. “We watched her growing up, snapping arms. I have a lot of respect for Ronda Rousey. Every time I’ve met her, it was very amicable.
“So when she’s saying that, I don’t think it’s a personal attack on me by any means. I don’t feel she’s coming after me. I feel she’s maybe using me as an example to express her dissatisfaction with maybe how she was treated in the WWE. But I can’t speak on that because I don’t know how she was treated.
“I don’t think she’s a hater. I think she might be unhappy with how her run in the WWE went, but I don’t know anything really about that. All I know is how I work and the facilities and time that I’ve been given to make my matches as best as possible.
“I think the WWE recognises that when I put on a good match, which will happen every single time I perform, the outcome and the reaction of the fans are immense. It fills the audience. I think I’ve proven my value, both in and out the ring, on the mic, wrestling. The impressions that I’m delivering the company are second to none.”
Rousey had said: “He’s great on the mic. He does a great job on the mic. I wish I was allowed the time to rehearse that he gets. It’s not evenly spread. He’s like their next big star. They are rolling out the red carpet. It goes to show that if you give people the time to rehearse and the resources, you can do amazing things. It’s frustrating that everybody doesn’t get that treatment.
“My first match with them was incredible because we had six weeks to rehearse, all the best minds in the business coming and putting in their two cents and it was an instant classic. Then, they never did it again. I was like, ‘Why isn’t this the model?’ They’re doing that with Logan Paul and he’s having these fantastic performances. Look what you guys can do when you actually put organization and effort into things. It blows my mind that this billion-dollar company is succeeding in spite itself in so many ways.”
