Katy Perry has reunited with Dr. Luke to produce her upcoming album, a decade after their last collaboration. This partnership has sparked significant backlash from fans due to the producerโs history with ๐ e๐ฅual abuse allegations from pop star Kesha.

On Monday, Perry announced her new album’s lead single, “Woman’s World,” on TikTok. Rumors of Dr. Luke’s involvement quickly circulated, and Rolling Stone confirmed the news through a source at Capitol Records. “Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” the source said. “And that includes previous collaborators including Luke, Stargate, Max Martin, and Sarah Hudson.”
Dr. Luke, who co-produced many of Perry’s hits like “California Gurls” and “Roar,” had not worked with her since 2013’s “Prism.” The following year, Kesha accused Dr. Luke of ๐ e๐ฅual, physical, and emotional abuse, leading to a protracted legal battle. Although Kesha and Dr. Luke reached a settlement last year, the allegations have left a lasting impact on his reputation.
Perry’s decision to work with Dr. Luke again has drawn criticism from fans. “It’s dangerous for Katy Perry, she could be the next victim,” one fan expressed on social media. Another added, “I’m so disappointed in Katy. How could she work with him after everything that happened?”
Despite Dr. Luke’s continued success with other pop stars, Perry’s collaboration with him has left many of her followers feeling betrayed.
