DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn sets the record straight about when the first DC Universe project will premiere, following rumors about Creature Commandos being delayed. With 2023 marking the end of the DCEU, Gunn’s DC Universe is on its way as DC Studios is working on multiple movies and TV shows that will build a fresh continuity for the DC heroes and villains. While most of the projects that have been announced are live-action, animation will play a huge role too, as Creature Commandos is part of Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters.”
Despite having initially revealed it for 2024, a recent report suggested that viewers would perhaps have to wait a bit longer to mee the Creature Commandos characters. It has been less than half a week since the original Creature Commandos report emerged, and Gunn has thankfully already come out on social media to clarify what is going on.
When @CarlosEdua42444 asked if it was true that Creature Commandos was delayed until 2025, Gunn made it crystal-clear that the DC Universe show “is all set to come out in 2024. There have never been any delays, thank goodness” while also adding that “any info otherwise is a well-intentioned mistake or misspeaking.” While it is still arriving in 2024, Gunn didn’t announce an official premiere date for Creature Commandos, which will likely be revealed at some point next year.
Why DC Fans Were Worried About Creature Commandos Being Delayed
On Friday, November 3, the Creature Commandos update started getting traction on social media when Bobbypills, which is the animation studio that has been working on the Max series, revealed on their YouTube channel that the show was supposedly not premiering until 2025. However, not only did Gunn debunk it, but the original video is now unavailable, with the notice “This video contains content from Warner Bros. Entertainment, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.” This means Bobbypills was never supposed to share this to begin with, as the premiere date was also misinformation.
It’s perfectly understandable why this would be a major concern to DC Universe fans, especially what has been going on in the last few years. The DCEU has had to deal with multiple delays and behind-the-scenes issues on some of the last installments of the franchise. From The Flash’s chaotic development, the several times that Warner Bros. had to push Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom back to Black Adam’s controversial leaking of the big Superman cameo, DC fans have pretty much been on the edge, and the last thing they want to see is any further delays for Gunn’s DC Universe.
Every Confirmed DC Universe TV Show
With this rumor now put to rest, it begs the question of when they will start marketing Creature Commandos, given that the show is already finished with its animation and voice work. It would certainly be neat to get a first Creature Commandos trailer before the year is over. Hopefully, the Creature Commandos premiere date, as well as some footage, will be revealed sooner rather than later for 2024.
