Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson have each been named as the highest-paid actors in Hollywood at some point throughout their respective careers. Both have also been named as the most beautiful people in entertainment and yet, we don’t really get to see much of them together.
Ever since Cruise’s first wife Mimi Rogers reportedly converted him to the Church of Scientology, trouble hasn’t left the actor’s side. Although there have been rumors that Cruise has finally quit Scientology after it kept him away from his daughter Suri for years, there have been numerous complaints of instances when the actor tried converting his co-stars to this controversial religion.
Given Cruise’s history and reputation in the industry, it’s always refreshing to hear the star saying something nice about his colleagues. For that reason, everyone was even more pleasantly surprised when hearing Cruise’s comments about Scarlett Johansson.
Fans Loved Tom’s “Nice Guy” Comments About ScarlettThe Things
The Black Widow star has been recently promoting her new movie Asteroid City, for which she leads an ensemble cast. During the New York premiere of the Wes Anderson spectacle, an interviewer asked the actress who’s the one actor she wants to work with but hasn’t been able to.
Johansson admitted, without hesitation, her wish to work with Cruise in the future, despite the fearful reputation he has on set.
Cruise was later confronted with a question about Johansson’s will to work with him, while coincidentally promoting Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in the same period.
Cruise replied, “She is enormously talented, so charismatic, versatile, has great physical ability, obviously. I am looking for something with us.”
Fans enjoyed how Cruise didn’t bother to mention her physical beauty, but instead focused on her talents. Others might have commented on her looks, but Cruise’s comments highlighted his professionalism, as the public pointed out.
It definitely was a nice change hearing a famous male actor show pure respect and compliments towards a fellow actor he seems to view as an equal. Additionally, the audience has also directed their attention to the actor’s work ethic, as Cruise is widely known for taking almost no days off.
Tom And Scarlett Johansson Have Never Worked TogetherTheThings
Mission Impossible, and Marvel, are two franchises that cannot be left out when talking about the film industry today. Despite belonging to the same category of A-list actors, Cruise and Johansson have never actually joined forces for a movie project.
They have been seen talking to each other at awards shows, but the possibility of them working together came forward only once throughout their career.
It was revealed that Johansson almost played Cruise’s love interest in Mission Impossible II. Although the actress was apparently already signed to a contract, and training for the role, Maggie Q and Keri Russell were eventually cast.
Cruise and Johansson have been at the center of a Scientology-related rumor. The organization’s security guard stepped forward and claimed that the actress was on a list of female candidates for Cruise’s next partner.
Both the Church and Johansson denied this claim, calling it ‘demeaning.’
After each actor’s positive sentiments about the other, it’s possible the two will connect on screen in the future. And knowing Tom, if it’s a project he’s proposed, Scarlett will likely have quite an adventure on set, not to mention an impressively daring role to go with it.

If there ever was a celebrity with the most feuds with others in Hollywood, there’s a high chance the proof would point to none other than Cruise. A number of celebrities have openly admitted Cruise’s attempts to convert them to Scientology.
Seth Rogen reportedly avoided Cruise’s attempt to convert him to Scientology with the help of Judd Apatow. While visiting the actor’s Los Angeles mansion, Cruise asked them to explain what the religion was truly about.
Cruise has also apparently tried to recruit David and Victoria Beckham to Scientology after they moved to L.A in 2008. The star promised Beckham to help him with his soccer career, but the offer eventually failed.
Cruise allegedly resents the married couple to this day, despite their attempts to mend their friendship. Additionally, Cruise refused to personally invite Russel Brand to Scientology, because he didn’t think he’d be a good fit for the Church.
The Interview With A Vampire co-stars Cruise and Brad Pitt have been frenemies ever since the media started comparing their stardom success. Cruise also criticized Brooke Shields’ medication use of anti-depressants to treat her postpartum depression.
The actor has since apologized, but it still sparked controversy back in 2005, due to Cruise’s aid to stigma surrounding mental health. To top it all off, Cruise and Steven Spielberg have finally ended their 20-year feud.
The pair’s silent dispute started while promoting Spielberg’s movie War of The Worlds, and the director didn’t appreciate how Cruise made the promotions about himself and overshadowed them with controversies.
