22-year-old Lady bags Aerospace Engineering degree from US university, sets record as the only black graduate in the university

A 22-year-old lady named Mya Guillaume has earned a b degree in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, United States, and set a record as the only Black graduate in her graduating set.

Mya Guillaume obtained her bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, United States. She took to Instagram to celebrate her achievement of becoming an Engineer.

Mya did not only just bag a male-dominated degree, she also said she was the only Black person graduating with a degree in aerospace engineering at her university this year. She mentioned that there were only three who completed the program out if the 13 that initially enrolled.

”Dear Old State, I Just Need Some Space. After the hardest yet most rewarding 4 years of my life, I am officially a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering,” she said.

While a student, Mya was awarded the prestigious Brooke Owens Fellowship, which recognizes individuals committed to their communities and pursuing a career in aerospace. She was also recognized in the inaugural class of Patti Grace Smith fellows, a fellowship empowering and supporting young black excellence within aerospace.

Mya said she also met the first Black American astronaut, Guion S. Bluford, who bagged the same aerospace engineering degree from Pennsylvania  State University. She said he shared first-hand experiences from all parts of the industry with her.

She mentioned that in her free time, she loves to travel and hopes that one day she will be able to combine her love of adventuring with her love of engineering to truly make a difference.

Mya stated that all through her life, she has always been advised to dream big, and she is determined never to cease her pursuit of reaching for the stars. ”For my entire life, I’ve been told to dream big, and I’ll never stop chasing the stars,” she said.

Mya said her aim is to help space exploration become more accessible for people everywhere while continuing to preserve the world while exploring any others out there.
