During a press conference with the France national team, Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé faced questions about his potential participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
With a summer that could see him play in UEFA Euro 2024 and the Olympics, the 24-year-old could bring a trophy and a gold medal to his home country. Nonetheless, Mbappé remained composed but direct in responding to inquiries regarding his involvement in the Olympics.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a thought process that will take a lot of time,” Mbappé told reporters (h/t Paris Fans). “If it’s yes, it’s yes. If it’s no, it’s no. I can’t change anything about that. What I want to do is, of course, play them. I think people want me to do it, too. I think things will return to normal. Afterward, we’re not safe from a bad surprise.”
As the Olympics coincide with UEFA Euro 2024, the summer promises to be a hectic period for Mbappé, who will also ponder his future. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is a free agent after this 2023-24 season.
The winger will likely decide where he’ll continue playing before the international competitions, should Mbappé participate in both. PSG’s star could extend with the French giants, but other options exist.
Mbappé could head to Real Madrid, and there’s the possibility of going to the Premier League. Regardless, 2024 will prove to be a busy year for the Frenchman.
