The son of legendary Real Madrid star Marcelo has been called up to Spain’s Under 15s side for the first time.
Enzo Alves, 13, shared his delight at the news, as he posted pictures of himself in the Spain kit on his Instagram page.
It comes despite his father making 58 international appearances for Brazil during his brilliant career.
Alves is eligible to play for Brazil through his family roots, and could still decide to play for them in the future if he wished to do so, but for now he has opted to snub the Selecao in favour of the country where he was born.
Alongside the images on Instagram, he wrote: ‘Start a new challenge. Let’s go for it.’
