Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season to join the Saudi Pro League, according to Spanish media.
The 38-year-old Croatian has seen his playing time reduced thanks to the signing of English superstar Jude Bellingham.
Modric’s agent has previously hinted that the midfielder has had several offers from other clubs.
He said: ‘This summer there was interest. The player has several offers, from a club the capital and another club . Modric is currently thinking about Real Madrid, but the idea of him moving to the Saudi Pro League is possible if the offer is suitable.’
And now, according to Spanish media media outlet Sport, Modric looks set to end his twelve year career at Los Blancos at the end of the season.
Luka Modric has struggled for minutes this season, only starting five times out of 17 games
New signing Jude Bellingham has asserted himself as a starter in the Real Madrid midfield
As the former Ballon d’Or winner nears the end of his career, a multi-million-pound contract in the Saudi Pro League would be too good of an offer to turn down.
Real Madrid have previously stated they are not considering any deals with Saudi clubs.
But, it appears the club will likely allow Modric to leave at the end of the season and not in January as they will look to keep him as injury cover.
A similar proposal by a Saudi club could be made along the lines of former team-mate and Frenchman Karim Benzema.
And given that Modric has only made five starts out of a possible 17 so far this season, it is looking increasingly likely.
