Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the sequel to the highly successful Aquaman and fans are definitely excited for it. However, the show has been plagued with controversy since last year after it was revealed the movie would still feature Amber Heard, who portrayed the role of Mera in the first film.
This is because Amber Heard became public enemy #1 after her legal war with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. Multiple reports noted that DC was going to outright remove her from the film, but that didn’t happen – leading to fan backlash.
In the end, it was decided that while Amber Heard would be in the film, she wouldn’t get as significant a role as Heard was originally going to get in the sequel film. Nonetheless, fans still felt Heard should have been removed entirely from the movie.
